Dr Malcolm Carey trained at the University of Stellenbosch where he completed his Medical degree in 1996 and then went on to specialise in Ophthalmology at the same institution concluding his studies in 2005.

He received the Master of Medicine (MMed) degree and was granted Fellowship of the College of Ophthalmology of South Africa.

He spent time in the United Kingdom honing his skills and then worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Albert Luthuli Hospital before setting up practice in Ballito.
